John Banks Group Expands with New Renault, Dacia & Alpine Franchise in Colchester and Launch of Excellence Hub in Cambridge

6 June 2025 – Cambridge, UK – John Banks Group is delighted to announce its continued growth with the acquisition of the Renault, Dacia, and Alpine franchise for the Colchester Market Area, forming part of Renault UK’s new Hub and Spoke network structure. This strategic development marks another milestone in the Group’s evolution and long-term investment in multi-brand capability across East Anglia.

Effective 1st July 2025, the Colchester site will officially begin operating under the new franchise agreements following the termination of the previous operator, Glynn Hopkin, on 31st May 2025. John Banks Colchester will introduce the Renault Group brands with stock supported by their existing Ipswich and Cambridge locations until full brand centre transformation is complete later this year.

Mazda operations at Colchester will continue as normal, ensuring uninterrupted service for our existing customers while we grow the brand portfolio and enhance the customer offering at the site.

In addition to this exciting expansion, John Banks Group will also be launching a dedicated Renault, Dacia, and Alpine Recovery Excellence Hub at our Mercers Row facility in Cambridge. As part of Renault UK’s commitment to innovation and service excellence, this site will become a key technical centre supporting warranty, diagnostic, and recovery operations across the network.

To support this new Excellence Hub, we are actively recruiting Master Technicians and Service Advisors, providing new local employment opportunities and bolstering our technical capabilities to meet the highest standards of service in partnership with Renault UK.

This expansion coincides with the launch of our new Group website, going live in early Autumn 2025, which will better reflect our evolving brand structure and provide customers with enhanced digital functionality, real-time stock access, and seamless online booking.
