Renault Brake Fluid Change

From £95.00

Brake Fluid Change – Why is this so important?

Brake fluid plays a crucial part in the braking system because it transfers the force created when you press the brake pedal directly onto the wheel hub.

Heat is generated under braking, especially when heavier or prolonged braking occurs. This may affect the brake fluid that works if it is liquid and not so hot that it has become vapor. Therefore, the boiling points your brake fluid as the temperatures above the above the boiling point will form vapor bubbles in the system, which could potentially result in brake failure.

The brake fluid also serves as a lubricant of all movable parts and prevents corrosion. The fluid must be compatible with rubber seals and hoses, therefore allowing the braking system to achieve long service and optimal performance.

Why does this deteriorate?

Brake fluid has hygroscopic properties – meaning that it absorbs moisture during its life in your car. As the water content in the brake fluid increases, the temperature the liquid boils at decreases. The water contamination can significantly reduce the boiling point which will have a negative effect on your braking ability.

Regular servicing of your vehicle will include a check on the boiling point of your brake fluid, we recommended this is done regularly (check your vehicle handbook for details). Changing brake fluid is recommended to prevent brake failure and maintains the boiling point at a safe level
