John Banks Group Announces Strategic Consolidation of Motorcycle Operations

Bury St Edmunds / Colchester – May 2026

John Banks Group has announced that, from the end of April 2026, its Honda Motorcycles division at Bury St Edmunds will be relocated and fully integrated into its Colchester operation.

This strategic move will see all motorcycle sales and operations consolidated at the Group’s Honda Approved “Dream Dealer” facility in Colchester, further strengthening what has become one of the busiest and most successful motorcycle centres within the business.

As part of this transition, the Bury St Edmunds site will no longer operate a dedicated motorcycle service workshop. Customers requiring servicing, maintenance, parts or repair work will be able to access full motorcycle aftersales support at the Group’s Colchester and Cambridge locations, both of which are equipped with specialist facilities and experienced technicians.

The decision follows a sustained period of strong demand at the Colchester site, where increased customer activity has highlighted the benefits of centralising operations. With the current volume of business, maintaining a single-person motorcycle operation at Bury St Edmunds has become less viable, particularly during peak trading periods.

By bringing teams together at Colchester, John Banks Group aims to enhance efficiency, improve customer service levels, and ensure greater availability of staff and expertise within a single, high-performing location.

A spokesperson for the Group commented:
“Colchester has developed into a flagship destination for Honda motorcycles, and this move allows us to build on that success. By consolidating our operations, we can provide a stronger, more consistent service for our customers while supporting our teams with better resources and collaboration.”

Customers of the Bury St Edmunds motorcycle division will be contacted directly with details of the transition and reassured that all existing service, warranty, and support arrangements will continue seamlessly through the Group’s other locations.

John Banks Group remains committed to delivering high-quality motorcycle sales and aftersales care across its network, with Colchester and Cambridge continuing to serve as key hubs for Honda motorcycle customers across the region.
