Courtesy Car Insurance Changes – Effective 1st April 2026
Courtesy Car Insurance Changes – Effective 1st April 2026
At John Banks Group, we are committed to continuing to offer our customers convenient and flexible mobility solutions while their vehicles are with us for servicing, maintenance, or repair.
As part of this commitment, we provide access to courtesy and loan vehicles across our network. However, due to a number of significant insurance claims and a substantial increase in insurer costs relating to incidents involving courtesy vehicles, we have had to review our policy terms.
What is changing?
From 1st April 2026, the following updates will apply to all courtesy and loan vehicles provided by John Banks Group:
Insurance Excess Increase
The insurance excess applicable to all courtesy and loan vehicles will increase to £2,500.Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
The optional Collision Damage Waiver, which reduces your financial liability in the event of damage, will increase from £15.00 to £25.00 per day.Payment Terms
The Collision Damage Waiver fee must be paid in advance prior to driving any John Banks courtesy or loan vehicle.
Why are these changes necessary?
Unfortunately, a rise in serious incidents involving courtesy vehicles has led to increased insurance costs across the industry. As a result, our insurers have significantly raised the excess levels applied to our policy.
We have worked hard to minimise the impact on our customers, however these changes are necessary to ensure we can continue offering courtesy vehicles as part of our aftersales service.
Our Commitment to You
We understand that these changes may be disappointing, but our priority remains:
Keeping you mobile while your vehicle is with us
Maintaining a high-quality fleet of courtesy vehicles
Providing transparent and fair terms for all customers
Our team will always be happy to explain these options to you and help you choose the best solution for your needs.
If you have any questions ahead of your booking, please contact your local John Banks dealership.
