Honda Reaches Milestone of 500 F1™ Races

Honda Celebrates 500 Formula 1 Races at the 2026 United States Grand Prix
Honda is set to celebrate a major milestone in motorsport, marking its 500th Formula 1 race at the United States Grand Prix, taking place at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, from 23–25 October 2026.
Since making its F1 debut at the 1964 German Grand Prix, Honda has built a remarkable history in the sport, competing as a factory team and supplying engines and power units to some of the championship’s most successful teams.
To celebrate the milestone, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team’s AMR26 cars will feature a special Honda500 commemorative logo at the United States Grand Prix. Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) race engineers working alongside the team will also wear uniforms displaying the logo.
A Legacy of Motorsport Success
Honda’s Formula 1 journey has been defined by innovation, determination and championship-winning performances.
The brand secured its first F1 victory at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix with the Honda RA272. It went on to achieve further success as an engine supplier, winning the Constructors’ Championship with Williams Honda in 1986 and both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships in 1987.
One of Honda’s most successful periods came with McLaren Honda between 1988 and 1991, when the partnership won both championships for four consecutive seasons.
More recently, Honda-powered Red Bull Racing cars secured the Drivers’ Championship in 2021, followed by further championship success for the team in 2022 and 2023.
A New Chapter with Aston Martin
Honda’s latest milestone comes as the brand begins a new chapter in Formula 1. For the 2026 season, Honda has become a works partner of Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, supplying its RA626H power unit.
The partnership represents the continuation of Honda’s commitment to developing advanced motorsport technology and competing at the highest level.
To commemorate its 500th race, Honda is also launching a dedicated website tracing its Formula 1 history, alongside a special video celebrating the achievements, challenges and memorable moments from its journey in the sport.
Looking Ahead to the Future
Koji Watanabe, President of Honda Racing Corporation, expressed his gratitude to the fans, drivers and partners who have supported Honda throughout its Formula 1 history.
He also reaffirmed Honda and HRC’s commitment to continuing their motorsport journey, building on the achievements of the past while taking on new challenges.
As Honda celebrates 500 races in Formula 1, the milestone recognises not only the brand’s long-standing racing heritage but also its ambition to continue bringing excitement and innovation to motorsport fans around the world.
